WEEKEND STAYCATION at MANILA HOTEL

We were looking for a more intimate and less stressful ways to celebrate Mom's Birthday and Father's Day last June and a 2 night staycation at MANILA HOTEL was the perfect option. I guess the good timing made it possible, Saturday is my Mom's birthday and the following day is Father's day.

Manila Hotel Staycation
MANILA HOTEL is an icon in the landscape of MANILA and staying there for 2 nights brought back happy memories from my childhood days. I grew up in Manila and up until this point is still residing in Manila but its only now that I get to stay in Manila Hotel and from the window of our hotel room can appreciate the sights I used to frequent with my father. My father is retired Navy and Phil Coast Guard used to be his office and Navy ships used to be his home. He was very pleased and all smiles seeing this sights again from our window. Also from here we can see the Quirino Grandstand where we used to run and play. It was a perfect Throwback Thursday kind of moment and we all enjoyed every minute of our stay.
Manila Bay View
the beautiful sunset failed to show up for two consecutive days because of bad weather
Manila Hotel is Philippines' oldest five star hotel built in 1909. It became home to some notable world leaders and famous personalities and played a big role in a number of Philippines' historical events. While the facade of this five star hotel is not outstanding, the lobby and the function rooms showcased grandiose settings, elegance and Filipino ingenuity and craftsmanship.

Our superior deluxe room is decorated with a Filipiniana theme very evident with the use of Capiz seashell inlays and Mahogany wood furniture. The room is also fully equipped with modern facilities designed for comfort, and offers a magnificent view of Manila bay.

The Pool and Garden Area is also a good spot to view the sunset but the weather was not cooperative for 2 days. We instead utilized the Pool and the Health Club facilities but didn't get to try the Spa.

My most awaited part is Cafe Ilang Ilang's breakfast buffet that goes with the hotel stay. The selections are ample, delicious and super filling. I wish I had a digestive system like before but I still try a little bit of everything  and choose to consume most the mixtures of dried fruits, plenty of different varieties of nuts and yogurt.

And while staying here and my parents are taking their sweet time sleeping, I did what I planned to do on weekends, to get up early and do 2 rounds of running near Quirino Grandstand, check the surrounding area and walk my way to Luneta and Manila Ocean Park. I'm happy coz that was a mission accomplished :).

For travelers planning to visit Manila, Manila Hotel is still one of the best choice for hotel accommodation. It is near most local attractions in Manila and you can brush up with history while staying here and enjoying Filipino hospitality at its finest.

  1. I've been to Manila Hotel on several occasions but never got the chance to stay in for a night or two. I've always wondered what the room interiors looked like, and must I say that it is very presentable. How much was a room stay (per night)? :) Oh, and belated Happy Birthday to your mom. Glad your parents loved your staycation. :)

He is an army veteran of the US.
He described the Manila Hotel with the bud Double Doors. The grand settings and enjoyable Five Star accomodations.
Of course he was reminiscing so this was way back then, nice to know that Manila Hotel still exist as it is today, a hotel of significance to Philippine History

  3. I haven't been into this hotel. Everytime I visit Manila, I stay in the condo kasi kaya I don't get to go to hotels except during bar operations. The longest time I've stayed in the metro was 1 week lang :)

  6. Through your pictures I was able to have a sight of what's inside their deluxe room, because I haven't tried staying there overnight since the rate there is expensive. I go there only to attend functions and events, maybe I will be able to have a staycation there when my children will grow and already have their own jobs so they can afford to treat me on a Mother's day!

  11. So you're a Manilan girl. Since the time when you were a kid and now up to the present, there is a great difference of improvement in Manila, particularly along the seashore. Isn't it? At least in the present of time, you've been staying quite sometime in Manila hotel for special occasion with your parents.
