To Fly Cebu Pacific Air or Not?

As of lately, Cebu Pacific Air has been figuring in a number of mishaps and complaints that are mostly valid and reasonable. The recent incident involving Cebu Pacific Flight 5J971 overshooting the Davao airport runway resulted in calls to boycott the airline due to the reported ineptness of the airline personnel in handling the events that followed.

While I totally understand where the complaints are coming from, I think the most logical thing to do is not to call for an immediate boycott of a particular airline until a thorough investigation had been completed but instead to demand for a stricter enforcement of all our airline's air safety standards be it a low cost airline or high charging ones. I'm glad all passengers came out unscathed but the episode most likely brought them some trauma, which I hope I won't get to experience in my lifetime. On a positive note though, this incident will force authorities to look into our airline's standard operating procedures and beef up all precautions to avoid this similar happenings. I hope!

Will I still fly Cebu Pacific Air? Yes, I will for the many reasons I'll mention below. Please note, this isn't a paid post. I'm not even soliciting for sponsored trips. I can pretty much pay for my air tickets because low cost airlines made that possible.

 And I'll stick to my mantra as follows in dealing with any situation, it always work;
  • Accidents do happen, we can only prepare and pray so much that it wont happen to us
  • Be grateful and be humble, people can only do so much, the rest is up to us.
  • If you find yourself about to complain, think of your many blessings and rejoice!
  • In this world, you get what you pay for but if you're nice you might get extra freebies
I'm still flying Cebu Pacific Air because they made me realized that travelling is affordable. That places and wishes which were just dreams before can actually happen. That it is possible to bring my family to nice places and can even afford to buy tickets for friends. And in the many instances that I've flown Cebu Pacific Air, maybe I was just blessed or just utterly prepared, I never once encountered a distressing flight or an arrogant customer service personnel, or got refused to board in, or was treated any badly. Many times, I have nice stories to tell like the CS guy who gladly assisted us from check in to boarding when there's a need for a wheel chair to carry mom when my family went to Hong Kong or the cabin crews we've  befriended while on flight and the many times I've won in their bring me game ;).

And that is just my opinion, if you feel unsafe flying Cebupac, you are very much entitled to cross them out from your airline list. But as for me, I'm praying and hoping that Cebu Pacific Air will rise up to the occasion and continue to provide safety packed low cost travels and more fun memories to come.

    1. It might sound bias but its an honest opinion and actual experience of someone who flies Cebu Pacific Air on a regular basis. Its a budget airline, and we fly with them because we value money as well as safety :)

  2. Will I still fly Cebu Pacific Air? Yes, of course. Accidents and delays only happen rarely and with their general services and competitive low prices, this airline company is still one to beat.

  3. I don't plan to boycott Cebu Pacific but I am never flying again via Air Phil (Pal Express) as they rebooked my flight without consent for one day and I had to be insistent to be able to take my flight the same day.

  4. Whenever accidents occur, calls for drastic moves such as boycott or closure always happen. It might be more practical to have the concerned agencies continuously monitor how airline companies conduct their maintenance of planes and training of employees to avoid mishaps that can be prevented.

  5. I never fly locally. All my travel experience from different countries and airlines are different, some were good and some were bad like cancelled flight or delayed flight but to make up with their shortcomings, they give you something like a nice hotel accommodation, freebies, etc. Cebu Pacific I think is a good airlines.

  8. Cebu Pacific really offers the lowest and most affordable packages but I do hope that the safety of every passenger and staff will not be at any risk and there are still areas that they need to improve - customer service is one.

  9. I actually consider myself a frequent flyer of Cebu Pacific since they've managed to bring me to places because of their affordable rates. So I share your sentiments, as I also feel the same way towards the airline. I mean, I will still fly with them. I just hope that 5J will rise from this recent mishap and do better since every passengers safety is a major priority.

  12. I think I agree with you. The mishaps and unexpected troubles happen anytime and nobody, not even from the Cebu Pacific Management would want that to happen. I am sure they learned a lesson from that and they will do better next time, definitely, I will still fly with CebPac.

  14. My husband had traveled once with Cebu Pacific going to CDO but unfortunately, it was not a pleasant trip according to him. I don't want to go into details because, I was not the one who experienced it. Mishaps happen anywhere and accidents occur unexpectedly... so it is but natural for an airline company to improve their service, maintain safe and dependable aircraft.

  15. same here... Cebu Pacific gave a lot of "Juans" the opportunity for an air travel. and I guess this also paved the way for "sales seat" :D

  16. Twice pa lang akong nakasakay ng Cebu Pacific and I find their crew so accommodating and yes, cheap price pa. Forget those accidents for they all happens at any given time.

  17. I will surely fly with Cebu Pac - they'd been my first choice ever since I could remember. It is not fair that a few mishaps and problems could mean a boycott :( I agree with your points, especially the "you get what you pay for but if you're nice you might get extra freebies" ;)

  18. It doesnt mean that they're low cost, we can let things fly off the window.
For one thing, Tiger Airways are pumping up their services, so Cebu Pac would realy need to pump up their game.
Just last week, I was denied entry to the gateway by Cebu Pac..
WHile I admit that it was my fault, you have no idea how the Sups and Managers drove it to my traumatized being. These people need to work on their customer service skills.
Now while, you have high praise for how they handled your situation on your flights, i'd like to avoid flying with them as much as I can.
If you know of the accounts in Davao, you'd also think twice knowing that the cabin crews were the first to break down and cry instead of assisting panicking passengers. It took hours to settle the situation because cebu pac is more concerned about the insurance of their plane.

    1. If you feel that you can no longer fly with them, that's your privilege. Life is all about making choices.
But as far as I'm concern, I'll still fly with them for the reasons I already stated above. And as long as I feel safe because safety is non negotiable, I will still be on the look out for piso fare :)

    1. Hi! No, they didn't charge extra for the wheel chair use, we only gave a small token for the nice service to the cebupac staff who assisted and wheeled my mom.
