Kimpura Japanese Restaurant, Greenbelt 5

It was a treat from a good friend slash bonding moment to catch up on some chikas that extended to Cafe Breton and lasted till wee hours.

It was my first time to dine here on a misono table. You need to reserve it ahead because most of their customers prefer to sit around this table where the chef cooks the food right in front of them. The only disadvantage here is that, you'll smell like some grilled food afterwards.

Dining around the Misono table
I know that Kimpura is one established authentic Japanese restaurant that has been around the same time as I am. They now have a branch in Greenbelt 5 where we dined.

We picked from the menu some beef, squid, prawns, tofu and then the chef came over and  positioned himself on our misono table to cook these in front of us. I paid attention how meticulously and masterfully he handled the cooking on the teppan grill.

We were also served ahead some appetizers to munch on and some miso soup while we wait for the main course. We also ordered kani salad and tuna sashimi to complete the menu.

The squid was perfectly done, my benchmark of a good cook, it was easy to bite and yummy, same with the beef , the tofu and the prawns. The manner they were cooked and tasted clearly differentiate the authentic from the ordinary.

I would love to dine here again anytime soon, the modern interior, the authentic taste and feel of  the Japanese cuisine,  and the warm service, all summed up the reasons to visit the resto the next time around. Hmmm, I wasn't able to take note of the prices because my friend took care of it, but I feel that they were reasonably priced.

  2. Now this looks like good authentic Japanese food... simple but elegant in its presentation, and the teppan grill action is fun to watch. This reminds me of Kobe Steakhouse and Benihana of Tokyo in Waikiki. Taking into consideration that authentic Japanese food is expensive, my guess is that your friend probably spent the equivalent of $35 - $60 per head. :)
